Lotus Bike Replica, Barcelona 1992 This bicycle, made by Lotus, the maker of Formula 1 racing cars, has a monocoque frame made from carbon fibre. At the time, it was revolutionary and allowed Chris BOARDMAN (GBR) to break the individual pursuit world speed record. The aerodynamic position of the cyclist is the most striking change. This is the famous “Superman” position which was prohibited by the UCI in 1996, putting a stop to any technological progress derived from this position in the 1990s and also any inequality resulting from technological advantages
