Stockholm 1912, fan with photographs of the Olympic Stadium. Built by Swedish architect Torben Grut (1871-1945) in a style inspired by the palaces of the 16th century, the Stockholm stadium fired the imagination of contemporary visitors. One of them wrote: “During the Games, the Stadium underwent a series of almost miraculous transformations. After being a concert hall for 4,000 singers, then a restaurant for 3,000 guests, it was ready again for the competitions the following day.”
