The Montreal 1976 Games mascot is called Amik. His name, which means ‘beaver’ in Algonquian, the most widespread Native American language in Canada, was chosen through a national competition. This animal, a symbol of Canadian culture, wears a ribbon which evokes the winner’s medal.
