Moscow 1980, Misha, mascot of the Games. This little bear was chosen as the Olympic mascot by 40,000 viewers of a television programme on animals. Designed by Victor Tchijikov, its full name is Mikhail Potapych Troptygin. The Russian artist told the newspaper “Panorama Olympique” that he spent six months working on the figure of Misha, first the mascot could be found wearing a hat, then dressed in trousers and then holding an olive branch.
