"L'Escrime équestre" Jacques LALAING (Belgium, 1858-1917) Oil painting marouflé on pavatex, 1914. The Olympic Museum Collections Equestrian Fencing The only living portrait of Pierre de Coubertin. He penned a “Treaty on Equestrian Fencing”, which was published in 1906. He attempted to develop this new sport, which required swift movement and expert horsemanship, but without success.
