Alain Giletti was only 13 when he competed in the Olympic Games in Oslo in 1952. He was several times French and European and once world champion, but never won an Olympic medal, despite three appearances in 1952 in Oslo, 1956 in Cortina d'Ampezzo and 1960 in Squaw Valley. He managed to finish fourth twice in his last two Olympic participations.
