Pair of Kneissl skis similar to those used by Karl SCHRANZ in the 1960s. In 1960, Kneissl developed a fibreglass reinforced ski that shot to fame with the "White Star" model, with which Karl Schranz won the 1962 World Championship in Chamonix. Fibreglass is lighter than wood, absorbs shock better, and lacks the fast vibrations of metal. The Olympic Museum Collections
