Olympic challenge cup for the decathlon, presented by Czar Nicholas II of Russia, put back into play at two Olympic Games.

Physical description

Monumental boat-shaped drinking vessel called "kovsh" of Art Nouveau style, set with two chalcedony cabochons, two sapphire cabochons and two yellow sapphire cabochons. Handle with "bogatyr" warriors (mythical knights or heroes in the Russian tradition) and bargeman in national Russian costumes. Bow ornated with a rider and the Imperial arms with the crowned double-headed eagle. Signed with the hallmark of Carl Fabergé, Provider of the Imperial Court of Russia, Moscow, 1908-1917, Nr. 18831.
