Paris 1889, commemorative diploma of the Universal Exhibition awarded to Pierre de Coubertin.
Physical description
Diploma featuring the several topics displayed in the Fair (farming, industrie, science, arts). On the top the jubilee dates: 1789-1889. Several cherubs, on the top women wearing antique dresses holding the topics symbols of the Fair. A lion held by two cherubs symbolize "tamed force" by "Europe's Renaissance". Caption: "République française, Ministère du commerce, de l'industrie et des colonies, Exposition universelle de 1889, Diplôme commémoratif, A Monsieur Pierre de Coubertin, membre du Comité d'organisation des Congrès de 1889".
