Terrazas and Wyman also designed the pictograms. They opted for the representation of a part that reflected the whole. It was the only time that ideograms would be designed in this manner.
Lance Wyman and Eduardo Terrazas spoke of the pictograms they created for the 1968 Mexico City Games: “Our icons are based on expressive detail, a part of the athlete’s body or piece of sports equipment’.
This sports illustration has remained a unique example of their work.
