Plaque of the French exhibition held at the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893, presented to Pierre de Coubertin.
Physical description
Obverse: "GENIO. REDVCI. PATRIA. GRATA." Dock with a steamer moored and beyond, with a vapor barrier within the port. Front and radiant winged genius right giving a laurel branch in France standing left, signature Roty on the bollard. Reverse: "EXPOSITION/ INTERNATIONALE DE CHICAGO/ 1893". Cartridge with banner inscribed below, placed on a wreath of laurel and oak with painter's palette, square, notched wheel etc. .. Above "Section française - Hors compétition - Baron P. de Coubertin - Pour Services rendus".
