Knight's Cross of the Order of the Saviour (Redeemer) awarded to Pierre de Coubertin by King George I of Greece.
Physical description
White enamelled Maltese cross, surmounted by a gold crown and set on a green enamelled wreath, one half of which is an oak branch and the other half a laurel branch. Central medallion bearing an icon of Jesus, the Redeemer of Orthodox Christian soteriology; also made of enamel. Icon surrounded by this inscription on a blue enamelled ring: Greek inscription (translit. "E dexia so kheir, Kyrie, dedoxastai en iskyi" = "Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power", Exodus, 15:6). Reverse of the medallion carrying the inscription in Greek: "The IV National Assembly of the Hellenes at Argos - 1829"). Light blue ribbon. Country of manufacturing to be confirmed.
