Vase with acanthus (?) leaves, same pattern as the leaves that were depicted on the medals given to these Games' medallists. Caption: "Zeilen Jollen-Klasse. Nationale Olympische Spelen 1916".

National Games, Amsterdam 1916, silver vase. The 1916 Games were awarded to Berlin, but the First World War made it impossible to hold them. National “Olympic” competitions were nonetheless held in various countries (e.g. the Netherlands and Sweden). The Second World War also led to the cancellation of the 1940 Games, first awarded to Tokyo then to Helsinki, and the cancellation of the 1944 Games, which were to have been held in London.
