Saint Moritz 1948, winner's medal, gold, presented to Otto Mayer, IOC Chancelor.

Physical description

Obverse: right hand holding a lit torch with, in the background, the Olympic symbol with six snow crystals. At the top, caption: "CITIUS ALTIUS FORTIUS". To the left of the hand is the name of the manufacturer "HUGUENIN" with two hallmarks: (1) "0925" and (2) the hallmark of the manufacturer "HF". To the right of the hand we find the initials "PD" of the artist. Reverse: crystal of snow surmounting the caption: "Vmes JEUX / OLYMPIQUES / D'HIVER / St-MORITZ 1948" to which was added later, the following engraved caption: "O. MAYER / CHANCELIER / DU CIO". Name of the manufacturer "Huguenin" at the base of the medal.
