Born, raised and trained in France, slalom canoeist Benjamin Boukpeti opted to represent Togo, the country of his father when his brother Olivier went on to represent France. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, he claimed a historic first ever Olympic medal for the West African nation in the K-1.
