For the presentation and raising of the Chinese national flag at the Beijing 2008 Opening Ceremony, a group of children in traditional dress presented the flag. Eight flagbearers held the flag, displaying it solemnly, as one child sang “A Hymn to My Country”.
They were wearing costumes representing the 56 minority groups living in the People’s Republic of China. This costume was inspired by those worn by the Yugu minority.

This costume was used during the presentation and raising of the Chinese national flag. Eight flagbearers held the flag horizontally and displayed it solemnly. One child sang “A Hymn to My Country”. A group of children in traditional costumes presented their country's flag at the Opening Ceremony. The costumes were worn by children from the Galaxy Children's Art Troupe, who were to represent the 56 minority groups living in the People’s Republic of China. This costume was inspired by the ones worn by the Yugu minority.
