For the presentation and raising of the Chinese national flag at the Beijing 2008 Opening Ceremony, a group of children in traditional dress presented the flag. Eight flagbearers held the flag, displaying it solemnly, as one child sang “A Hymn to My Country”. They were wearing costumes representing the 56 minority groups living in the People’s Republic of China. This costume was inspired by those worn by the Yugu minority.
