Physical description
Obverse: antique rider on horseback, caption: "XVI OLYMPIADENS RYTTARTÄVLINGAR; 1956 / STOCKHOLM ». Initials "JS" of the artist. Reverse: Olympic symbol surmounted by a flaming torch. In the background is "OLYMPIA". Caption of the medal: "JEUX OLYMPIQUES ; CITIUS ALTIUS FORTIUS ". Name in Greek of the artist "Falireas" at the base of the Olympic symbol. Edge: there are five hallmarkss: (1) "LFA" which is the manufacturer's hallmark, (2) a stylized "M" for the city of Mjölby where the medal was made, (3) the state hallmark with the three Swedish kroner, (4) an "S" and (5) "F9" which indicates the year of manufacture for 1956.
