Gold medal set with a bronze laurel wreath with a cartouche at the base where on the side of the reverse is the name of the sport in Italian as a caption. The laurel wreath is completed by a bronze necklace. Obverse: representation of a woman, allegory of Glory, holding a laurel wreath in her right hand and a palm branch in her left hand. She is sitting on steps that have bas-reliefs representing a chariot with horses. To her right is an amphora. In the background there is a two-storey building with arcades. Caption: "GIOCHI DELLA / XVII OLIMPIADE / ROMA MCMLX". Name of the manufacturer to the left of the amphora: "STAB. ARTISTICI FIORENTINI - FIRENZE - ". Hallmark " 800 " at the feet of the allegory. Reverse: victorious athlete, carried in triumph by a procession of athletes, who greets the audience and holds a palm branch with his left hand. There is a building in the background.
