Physical description

Medal with belly and ribbon. Obverse: emblem of the Games, caption: "- XII - OLYMPISCHE WINTERSPIELE". Reverse: Olympic torch in the foreground with the Bergisel ski area in the background, name of the sport in German as a caption in the top left corner and the artist's name "COUFAL" at the bottom right of the torch. Edge: two hallmarks, 1) first quarter moon indicating local manufacture, 2) the letter "A" inserted in a circle which is the maker's hallmark; "925" being the title in thousandths of the medal. Ribbon in the national colours.
