Notes
The organisers wanted to give the Munich Games a feeling of informality, openness and relaxation. André Courrèges used inspiration from these qualities to design the Olympic employees’ clothes. Stewards, cashiers and programme sellers were dressed in orange. This colour was chosen for its visibility.
Even if the Games are rarely an opportunity to invent new objects, they are often representative of the feeling of the times. As a result, at the 1972 Games in Munich, the decorative energy of the pictograms and the joyful colour palette became a part of the competition venues, and appeared on many souvenirs.
