Physical description

Silk scarf printed with the medal's master artwork. Below on the left, Emblem of Vancouver 2010 and olympic symbol; below on the right, text about the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Medal: "The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Medal Like every athlete's Olympic journey, every Vancouver 2010 Olympic Medal is one-of-a-kind, yet connected through one shared story. Each medal incorporates a unique aspect of a Komoyue design depicting the orca whale across four panels, in the composition of a traditional West Coast First Nations bentwoo box. According to Komoyue culture, the orca is known for its strength and athleticism; orca symbolize the power of the group because they travel within pods supporting one another, for life. These characteristics parallel those of Olympic champions. The medal's dramatic form is inspired by the fluidity and dynamics of snow and ice, and the breathtaking environnement within the Host Region of British Columbia, Canada".
