Physical description

Grey swimsuit with two buttons on the shoulders. A partly erased inscription on the chest said "Moana". Label with the name "Moana Hotel Baths Honolulu" and the manufacturer's name.

Full-body swimming costume belonging to Duke KAHANAMOKU (USA), triple Olympic champion and two-time bronze medal-winner between 1912 and 1924 This costume was not used during the Olympic Games. However, it is said the swimmer wore it at Honolulu Harbour, in 1911, when he broke the 100-yard freestyle record. Duke KAHANAMOKU, a surfing legend, helped to increase surfing’s popularity.
