The lantern has been modified slightly to allow a wick to be inserted into the casing enabling a safe and smooth transfer of the flame. / The Sydney 2000 Olympic Torch Relay, the longest in Olympic history, commenced on 10 May 2000 in Olympia, Greece, travelled through 13 countries in Oceania before landing in Australia on 8 June 2000. The flame then travelled for 100 days throughout Australia before reaching its final destination on 15 September 2000".
