Berlin 1936, facsimile of the first torch relay poster.

Physical description

Tracing of the course taken by the flame light in Olympia for the first time to Berlin. Stamp of the Reichsbahnzentrale für den Deutschen Reiseverkehr. Signed (Lenz, maybe Maximilian Lenz, a Vienna-born artist who worked in Germany in the 1930s). Caption : "Olympia Fackel-Staffel-Lauf 1936". In a cardboard mount with the caption "1936 Berlin Olympics. The Olympic torch Relay Course. A German sports scholar, Carl DIEM devised the idea of the Olympic Torch Relay. On this poster, a magnifying glass is placed at the start, OLYMPIA, for indicating that the sacred flame is collected from sunlignt using a concavec mirror".
