Athletics shirt belonging to Edward GOURDIN (USA), long jump silver medallist, Paris 1924 Thanks to his perseverance, Edward GOURDIN was the first man in history to jump 25 feet (7.62m), and the first African-American to win a silver medal in the Olympic Games in the long jump. He was also the first African-American appointed to the Supreme Court of Massachusetts.
