This costume was worn during a segment which paid tribute to communities living in the poorest parts of the city, the favelas. To the beat of popular Brazilian music, street dancers took turns exhibiting their different styles. The aim was to acknowledge the significant contribution of these underprivileged neighbourhoods to the country’s vibrant musical culture and share their passion for dance with the world.
