Golf glove of Matt KUCHAR (USA), bronze medallist, Rio 2016.
Golf was last an Olympic sport at the 1904 Games in St Louis, when the United States and Canada were the only two countries competing.
At the 121st IOC Session, held in October 2009 in Copenhagen, the IOC members voted in favour of re-introducing golf to the Olympic programme. It was therefore in Rio in 2016 that the titles of Olympic golf champion were awarded for the first time in over 100 years. The Olympic tournament was the “stroke play” format for both men and women. The best players in the world therefore competed over 72 holes to find out who would be crowned Olympic champion.
