Lake Placid 1980 – T-shirt with the Games emblem belonging to broadcasting group ABC. This T-shirt is a slice of Games television broadcasting history. In 1980, ABC was the official broadcaster in the United States. The Official Report informs us that the channel had to coordinate the broadcast with other TV channels. This meant that it had to provide a “clean feed”, consisting of highquality colour images relayed via satellite and a so-called “international” sound signal – i.e. without the commercial breaks, graphics and special effects selected by ABC.
