Poster for “Visions of Eight”, the official film of the Munich 1972 Games. “Visions of Eight” is unique in the history of Olympic films as it takes the form of a documentary. Several of the directors who contributed were already well known, and some had worked or would work on other Olympic films (Ichikawa for Tokyo 1964, Claude Lelouch for Grenoble 1968 and Ozerov for Moscow 1980). One part was also the work of a female director, Mai Zetterling, a first since Leni Riefenstahl for the Berlin 1936 film, and something that would not happen again until the Beijing film directed by Gu Jun.
