Prototype of the sculpture commemorating 50 years of Jean Vuarnet’s victory in Squaw Valley in 1960 Work by Frédéric Blanc, René Bouchara and Gilles Chabrier Our Olympic Victory Steel and glass 2010 With the help of his coach, Georges JOUBERT, Jean VUARNET (FRA) developed a revolutionary technique for skiing faster, known as the “egg position”: torso compressed, legs bent, both arms out in front with the hands together. In 1960, the Frenchman was still the only person to ski like this, and on 22 February at Squaw Peak, his Olympic downhill victory created a sensation. The “schuss” was born!
