Tababi Thangjam’s silver medal came as rich reward after years of arguments and training in secret as she fought to overcome the opposition of her family, who felt that the sport was “only for boys”. Thangjam was a born fighter. She was regularly caught up in street brawls but would invariably lose due to her lack of strength. “Judo changed my life.
