Tokyo 2020 – Miraitowa, the Games mascot. On 28 February 2018, the Tokyo 2020 mascots were unveiled after primary school pupils were invited to choose their favourites from a shortlist of three sets of designs. The winning designs came from Ryo Taniguchi. His characters combine traditional values with a futuristic look. The Olympic mascot is called Miraitowa, which is derived from the Japanese words mirai (future) and towa (eternity). This name was chosen to promote a future full of eternal hope in the hearts of people all over the world. OCOG donation
