Stockholm 1912, winner's medal, bronze, awarded to Léo NARDUS (NED), for fencing, épée team.

Physical description

Obverse: a naked athlete holds a palm branch with his left hand, behind him there are two seated female figures who crown the athlete with a laurel wreath. Initials of the artist "BM" at the athlete's feet on the left with the words "VAUGHTONS" and "BIRM" on the right. Reverse: herald feauturing the national coat of arms and proclaiming the opening of the Games. On his left, the bust of a man bearing the caption: "LING", identifying him as Pehr Henrik Ling, founder of the institutions and system of Swedish gymnastics. Monogram of the artist: EJL [bound] to the right of the bust. Caption of the medal: "OLYMPISKA SPELEN I STOCKHOLM ; 1912".
