Melbourne 1956 – athletics top, shoes and delegation uniform worn by Anne PASHLEY (GBR), silver medallist in the 4x100m.
Anne Pashley, one of Great Britain’s nine female athletes at the 1956 Olympic Games, said of the 4x100m: “I always loved the relay. It was fun. I did the start, so it was quite a responsibility.” But it was the Australian team, which included Betty Cuthbert, the fastest woman in the world, that won gold. At the end of her sporting career, Pashley decided to pursue her other passion: music. She studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and became an opera singer.
