Beijing 2022, torch. The torch of the Beijing 2022, which is entitled “Flying” (Fei Yang in Chinese), is a spiral, symbolising the Great Wall, the winding tracks left by skis on the snow and humanity’s constant quest for light, peace and excellence. The two colours, red and silver, are a metaphor for fire and ice. These colours and the cloud designs also recall design elements of the torch used for the 2008 Games, according to torch designer Li Jianye. It is powered mainly by hydrogen and so will produce no emissions, forming part of the Organising Committee’s efforts to stage “green and high-tech” Games. Donated by the OCOG
