The Nike shoes released for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games were produced following extensive research on sole resistance and geometry, durability, fabric quality
and weight, and design. Rachel Bull, Footwear Product Director at Nike Running,
explained that the “Rawdacious” colourway palette symbolised the joy of coming together again through sport, with the warm tones signalling new beginnings. The palette is grounded in a white base. As with negative space in art, the white space brings other elements to the fore.
