Los Angeles 1984, athletics outfit worn by Gabriela ANDERSENSCHIESS (SUI), marathon. In what was the first-ever women’s Olympic marathon, in Los Angeles in 1984 – won by the USA’s Joan Benoit – Switzerland’s Gabriela Andersen-Schiess limped into the stadium. Having missed the final water station, she was suffering from dehydration, but she recovered quickly after the race. She was however wearing red shorts during the marathon. Donated by the athlete
