Replica of a 1940s swimming suit worn by Ona CARBONELL (ESP), Olympic medalist in synchronized swimming.
The Olympic Channel produced a series called “Past and Present”, which set designers various challenges to reflect how sports outfits have evolved from the early
20th century to the present day. A number of athletes were also up for the challenge, agreeing to play their sport wearing the specially designed replica items, and give
their impressions. The clothes were generally found to be heavy, restrictive, hot and
uncomfortable, and hindered performances. All of which makes the feats of athletes from all those decades ago even more impressive!
