St Moritz 1948, bronze medal awarded to Edor Albrecht HJUKSTROEM (SWE) in the military patrol, a demonstration sport. A military patrol competition was held at the Olympic Winter Games in 1928, 1936 and 1948 as a demonstration sport. Military patrol is similar to the team biathlon: all the team members ski together round the circuit, stopping every so often to shoot at targets. The Official Report for these Games stated: “Relations between the eight military patrol teams were most amicable and cordial. If ever the Olympic spirit was on show in any of the disciplines, it was certainly the military patrol.” Purchased at auction
