Gold Medal of Merit of the Swedish Red Cross, awarded to Onni Niskanen in 1980, under the patronage of Charles XVI Gustav.
Physical description
Medal with ribbon in the national colours and a medallion in the shape of the Swedish royal crown and laurel branches. Obverse: portrait of King Charles XVI Gustav (right profile) of Sweden with the caption: "CARL XVI GUSTAF SVERIGES KONUNG" with the initials "LH." of the artist. Reverse: Red Cross logo in a laurel wreath and the caption: "Onni Niskaken /1980" below. Reverse caption: "FÖR FÖRTJÄNST OM SVENSKA RÖDA KORSET". Edge: presence of 6 hallmarks. 1) maker's hallmark "SPORR". 2) Norrtälje town hallmark, place of manufacture. 3) Swedish mark with the three crowns. 4) "S" hallmark meaning sterling for silver. 5) "825" for the title. 6) "C10" for the year of manufacture in 1977.
