It quickly caught on, and soon over 50 tracks were renovated in France. The donor had won an internal competition at the company where he worked, 3M, then an official sponsor of the Games in Seoul in 1988, and Barcelona and Albertville in 1992. He was therefore able to attend two events at the Albertville Games, recalling: "It was a truly unique moment of peace, communion and closeness between nations, which was much appreciated beyond the spectacular events."
