The original torch was produced by the firm Krupp, which had also previously manufactured the first-ever Olympic torch for the 1936 Games in Berlin. The Munich 1972 torch bears the logo of the Games “Radiant Munich” created by Otl Aicher (1922-1991), a professor at the College of Applied Arts in Ulm (Germany).
