Artefacts
Set of 8 drawings illustrating the different choices of mascots available to the organisers of the Beijing Olympics. Both Olympic and Paralympic mascots. Each Olympiad has a choice of 4 options, graded from 1 to 4 for the Olympics and from 1 to 4 for the Paralympics. Each option shows a different mascot: - Option 1: A panda model for the Olympic Games. It looks like a snowball, but is very similar to the Bing Dwen Dwen mascot we know today. -Option n°2: a model showing Bing Dwen Dwen, this is the option chosen by the organisers. -Option 3: It looks like a panda, the only difference being that it's blue, where it should have been black. A little red and orange necklace adorns his neck. -Option 4: We find the panda model again, although this one appears to be a baby panda. Snowflake shapes (?) are visible on his ears. -Option n°1: first in the pile to designate a Paralympic mascot. It looks like a fawn with antlers. Orange and blue with big brown eyes. -Option n°2: model showing Shey Rhon. Mascot that will be designated as the Paralympic Games mascot by the organising committee. -Option 3: A white animal (again, a foan?) with multicoloured snowflakes on the tips of its legs. He has a blue scarf around his neck. Option 4: an animal (a fawn, the baby of the Bawean stag) with orange fur and ice-blue tips (horns and feet). It has a snowflake on its forehead.
