Lausanne 2020 Sketchbook for the Spirit costume worn during the Opening Ceremony. Lausanne 2020, sketchbook of a Spirit’s costume worn at the Opening Ceremony. The Spirit costume from the Opening Ceremony of the Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne in 2020 had to be able to hide the performer, a bit like a turtle’s shell. Designer Dorothea Nicolai drew inspiration from sportswear (the fabric is a material used for linings, but here left natural and on show) and Bauhaus design. The sketchbook, which also contains images that served as inspiration, allows us to better understand the creative process. Donated by the designer during a visit to the Olympic Museum
