"Once completed, this large Alençon vase measuring 1.10m entered the Manufacture shop in March 1924; it was priced at 22’5000 F"F. This was a considerable sum compared with a ticket costing 3 francs in the second tier and 7 francs in the first tier of the stands for an athletics competition at the Stade des Colombes! "The register states that the decoration was painted by Charles Louis Emile Pihan, a decorator at Sèvres form 1879 to 1928, based on a draft by painter Oscar Denis Victor Guillonnet (1872-1967). This draft had been accepted by the Art Committee of the Manufacture in 1923, and bears the number 101-23".
