Transport infrastructure is of key importance for a host city, which has to welcome a huge number of visitors, athletes and officials. As well as developing existing public transport, the Japanese Government opened several roads in Tokyo for the 1964 Games.
The 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo played a key role in Japan’s development after the War. Tokyo used the event to improve its roads and develop the port, as well as water supply and treatment. As for sport itself and Olympic Village requirements, they relied completely on existing structures.
