Sydney 2000, lampe de sécurité de la flamme olympique.
Lampe de sécurité de type lampe de mineur en métal, placé dans un coffret en bois. Légende sur la lampe : "The protector lamp & lighting C°Ltd Type GR6S M & O Safety Lamps Approval Wo. 82/233 Makers Eccles". Boîte en bois avec la légende : "Presented to His Excellency Juan Antonio Samaranch On the occasion of his retirement as President of the International Olympic Committee / In recognition and with thanks for his outstanding contribution to and support of The Australian Olympic Committee July 2001 / This flame safety lantern was used as a repository for the Olympic flames during its journey from Olympia, Greece to the Olympic Stadium, in Sydney Australia. The lantern has been modified slightly to allow a wick to be inserted into the casing enabling a safe and smooth transfer of the flame. / The Sydney 2000 Olympic Torch Relay, the longest in Olympic history, commenced on 10 May 2000 in Olympia, Greece, travelled through 13 countries in Oceania before landing in Australia on 8 June 2000. The flame then travelled for 100 days throughout Australia before reaching its final destination on 15 September 2000".
